Modify the Status of a Shipment

Fulfillment team members use shipment statuses to disclose the position of the shipment in the fulfillment process. CSRs use this feature to put a shipment on hold or cancel a shipment when the customer has changed their mind about this portion of the order. In either case, it is possible to target a single shipment and modify its status without affecting the order as a whole.

Modifying the status of a Shipment

You can modify the status of a Shipment from the Order Details Panel.

1. If you are starting from Order > Fulfillment, locate the shipment you wish to edit. For more information on locating a shipment, see Filter Shipments.

If you are starting from the Orders tab, locate the order, either through a search in Order > Orders or Order > Search. You can also access orders from customer records. For more information on locating an order, see Filter Orders.

Once you have located the shipment or the order, double-click it to open the Order Details panel.

The Order Details panel slides open.

2. In the Details panel toolbar click  Shipment Status Change.

The  Shipment Status Change button is not available if the status of the shipment is fulfilled, or when you do not have the required security permissions to change the shipment status.

The Request Shipment Status Change window opens.

3. Click the Shipment: drop-down and select the shipment that you want to change.
By default, a shipment is automatically selected in the drop-down based on the shipment that was selected in the order details panel.
4. Click the Status:drop-down and select the status that you require from the available options. Possible choices include, among other customizable options:
On hold: Putting a shipment on hold interrupts its fulfillment workflow until the hold is removed.
Canceled: Canceling a shipment affects the order total and ensures the customer will not receive the items that are part of this shipment while leaving the rest of the order intact.

Only valid status options are displayed in the drop-down, based on the current shipment status and the workflow.

5. Click the Reason:drop-down and select the reason that you require from the available options.
Available reasons vary according to the Status selected.
6. Add a Note: describing the reason for the status change in greater detail, if required.
7. When you are finished, click OK.

The dialog closes, and a message stating that The order is currently being processedis displayed at the bottom of the panel followed by the  Refresh icon.

8. Click  Refresh to view the change in status.
